County Veterans Service Officer Rich Maron awarded the Veteran of the Month honor to Silver Lake resident Randy Ransbottom this morning. The awarding took place during the Kosciusko County Commissioners meeting.

Ransbottom served in Vietnam from June 20, 1966, to June 20, 1969, as a wheel and track mechanic with an ordinance company in the Army. He served in Ho Chi Minh City and was also an ammo guard.

Ransbottom is married to Priscilla and the father of Donnette, Shannon, Ashley and Tony; and grandfather to Austin, Sam and Jackie.

Following the presentation of the Veteran of the Month award, county commissioner Bob Conley noted, “I’ve known Randy for a lot of years … he’s the kind of guy who wouldn’t talk about his experiences much at all. Randy’s an ace of a guy and a tremendous asset to society.”
