Wawasee earned an exciting Northern Lakes Conference win by a single stroke over Goshen Tuesday, 210-211.
The Lady Warriors weren’t at their best but hung in the meet and finished the last few holes at Maplecrest well enough to hold off the RedHawks. They were led by a pair of 51st from Jadison Rostochak and Taylor Cripe. Belle Brunner and Valerie Haessig both carded 54, meanwhile, and Lesley Tayagua’s 58 was the team’s fifth score.
Goshen was paced by Cat Hoover’s career-best 45 on the RedHawks’ home course. Estella Borden and Olivia Lehr both shot 55, and McKenna Cripe finished a stroke back with a 56. Lauren Murphy’s 65 was the throw-away score.
Wawasee improves to 7-5 overall with a 2-3 NLC mark. The Warriors play Wednesday at Culver Girls Academy.
CONCORD 181, NORTHRIDGE 181, WARSAW 206
Warsaw’s girls golf team lost both legs of a Northern Lakes Conference three-way with Concord and Northridge Tuesday at Bent Oak. Concord won both matches on a fifth-score tiebreaker as both the Minutemen and the Raiders shot 181 to the Tigers’ 206.
Izzy Ray led Warsaw with a 50 followed by Julia Hildebrand’s 51, Madelyn Ray’s 52 and Grayson Kilburn’s 53. Miriam Hagg’s 57 was Warsaw’s fifth score.
The Tigers’ JV beat both Concord and Northridge with a 215. Anna Morgan’s 49 paced the JV Tigers, while Sydney Lancaster carded 53, Marie Frazzetta shot 55 and Delaney Byron posted a 58.
Warsaw’s varsity dropped to 8-4 overall and 2-3 in the NLC. The Tigers look to finish conference round robin play strong versus Wawasee and Elkhart Memorial Thursday at Stonehenge.
MACONAQUAH 177, ROCHESTER 235, TIPPECANOE VALLEY NS
Tippecanoe Valley played a Three Rivers Conference three-way meet with Maconaquah and Rochester Tuesday at Round Barn. Maconaquah carded 177 to top the team standings, while Rochester shot 235, and Valley put up an official no score.
The Valley girls both turned in season-low scores as Cheney Canada shot a 62 and Sara Kelly shot 65.
Kianna Sharp shot the low round of 41 for the Lady Braves. Holly Householder carded 43, Brianna Smitley posted a 45, and Renee Stoll shot 48 for Maconaquah.
Rochester was led by Kristianna Lingenfelter’s 45. Maddie Henning turned in a 60, and Ashlyn Foster and Marley Strasser both carded 65.
Valley hosts Southwood Thursday.
