
NORTH WEBSTER — Everyone knows that exercise is good for your body, keeping it healthy and functioning at its best. The same is true for your brain. Now you can get a workout for your brain with online brain training exercises available on North Webster Community Public Library’s website at nweb.lib.in.us.
BrainHQ is a brain-training system designed by a team of neuroscientists to improve brain function. Patrons can choose to work on attention, memory, brain speed, people skills, navigation and intelligence with fun and challenging mental exercises. Simply click on the BrainHQ icon on the library’s home page, log-in using your North Webster Library card number and PIN, then set up your personal account. You can also set goals and track your progress. So log on and give yourself a brain workout.
Exercise your literary skills at Voyager Book Club 10 a.m. Monday. In this book club, everyone reads a book of their choice within the assigned genre, then shares what they have read with the group. On Monday, the group will discuss books about sports. If you’ve read a good one lately, bring it and join the discussion.
The rain and hot weather have produced a good crop of tomatoes this summer. Prepare a dish using some of those tomatoes and bring it to share at Revolving Recipe Round-Up 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28. This group of foodies meets the fourth Tuesday every month to share and sample new dishes and exchange recipes with each month focusing on a different type of food. This month the food of choice is tomatoes, so fix a dish and come for food and fellowship. The library provides table service and coffee.
It’s free popcorn for everyone at Family Movie Time at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30. Showing is an animated adventure comedy about a lovable, marmalade-eating bear. It’s rated PG and runs 104 minutes.
Registration for the fall session of Lapsit Story Time begins Monday, Aug. 27. For infants and toddlers ages birth to 36 months, Lapsit is a time for young children and their parents to explore books and stories together along with songs and meaningful play. Lapsit will be held at 11 a.m. every Tuesday and Friday throughout September and October. Parents can sign up for either day at the Youth Services Desk.
