INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man who was found with drugs and paraphernalia is now facing charges in Kosciusko County.

Quincy Akeem Jenkins, 25, 2313 Mayhew Drive, Indianapolis, is being charged with possession of a narcotic drug, a level 6 felony; possession of a syringe, a level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor. 

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 15, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department conducted a traffic stop after observing a silver vehicle driving over the speed limit. A male subject was driving the vehicle, and Jenkins was the passenger. The officer noted that the driver was exhibiting nervous behavior and his speech was slow and slurred.

The officer discovered that the driver of the vehicle had a suspended license. A K-9 unit arrived on the scene and performed an outer air search of the vehicle. The K-9 unit made a positive alert to the presence of illegal drugs inside the vehicle. 

A search of the vehicle was performed. A digital scale was located that contained residue which field-tested positive for heroin, a narcotic drug. Police also located a bag that contained a metal spoon with burn marks and residue and two syringes. A search of both Jenkins and the driver was conducted. Jenkins was found to be in possession of a cut plastic straw. The straw contained a tan, powdery substance that field-tested positive for heroin. Jenkins was also in possession of a plastic bag that contained a substance which field-tested positive for heroin.

Jenkins was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail Aug. 15, on a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
