David Lee Vanderpool

David Lee Vanderpool, 61, Winona Lake, passed away after a courageous battle with leukemia at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2018, at Parkview Regional Medical Center of Fort Wayne.

He was born on March 1, 1957, in Ironton, Ohio to Margaret (Norris) Vanderpool and Darwin Vanderpool. On Aug. 17, 1985, he was married to Sue (Masters) Vanderpool, who survives.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served honorably from November 1975 – October 1978. He attended two years of Bible College and worked in sales and restaurant management for 23 years. He was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 19 years where he attended Warsaw Bible Church as well as Lakeland Grace Brethren Church in Warsaw.

He enjoyed writing poetry, ministering to children and the elderly, fishing, the outdoors, guitar and singing.  David was especially devoted to his Lord & Savior and his family.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 33 years, Sue Vanderpool, Winona Lake; three daughters: Ashley Vanderpool, Winona Lake; Amber (Lamoine) Grow, Winona Lake; Amy Vanderpool, Winona Lake; his parents Margaret and Darwin Vanderpool, Ironton, Ohio; one sister: Cindy (Ozzie) Fullmer, Warsaw; and two brothers: Tim Vanderpool, Ironton, Ohio; Steve Vanderpool, Ashland, Ky. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Charles Vanderpool, and one older sister, Paula Pemberton.

Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 27, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.

His funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Russell Simpson and Pastor Larry McCall. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw, Indiana with military honors conducted by active duty members of the Air Force Honor Guard, American Legion Post 49 and V.F.W. #1126 both of Warsaw.
