WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after he was seen on video surveillance stealing cash from a cash register.

Mason James Gwin, 24, 800 E. Arthur St., No. F2, Warsaw, is being charged with theft, a class A misdemeanor, and theft enhancement with a prior, a level 6 felony.

On July 5, an officer with the Pierceton Police Department was notified by a Pak-a-Sak representative that an employee had taken money from the cash register without permission. The employee was identified as Gwin.

Surveillance video from July 1 was reviewed. In the footage, Gwin is seen removing money from the cash register. Surveillance video from July 4 shows Gwin removing money from the cash register again. The amount of money stolen was not specified in the affidavit of probable cause.

On July 5, the officer spoke with Gwin at his Warsaw address. Gwin admitted that he exerted unauthorized control of money from the Pak-a-Sak cash register while he was working. Gwin had previously been convicted of conversion on Dec. 25, 2016.

Gwin was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 11, with a $5,750 surety and cash bond.
