Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
4:37 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, West CR 600N, west of North Old SR 15, Leesburg. Driver: Andrew J. Chavez, 22, East Market Street, Warsaw. Chavez advised he was traveling on CR 600N when his GPS advised him to make a left turn. Chavez stated that after making the left turn, his vehicle exited the roadway and became stuck on the railroad tracks that travel north and south. Damage up to $25,000.
10:37 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, SR 13, north of East US 30, Pierceton. Drivers: Joseph L. Sunday, 48, EMS T13 Lane, Leesburg; and Joshua D. Stidd, 33, West Crestview Trail, McCordsville. Sunday’s vehicle rear-ended Stidd’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
12:46 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, Huntington Street, Syracuse. Drivers: Kaylyn R. Pettit, 17, East Rock-A-Bye Road, Cromwell; and Levi R. Farris, 71, Peter Court, Brooksville, Fla. Pettit’s vehicle struck Farris’ vehicle when Pettit was backing her vehicle out of a parking space. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
9:31 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Frank J. Stone, 95, Chapman Lake Drive, Warsaw. Stone advised he was pulling into a parking space and was not sure what happened. It appeared as though Stone’s vehicle struck a parked vehicle. At that time, Stone’s vehicle continued forward and jumped the curb, striking a fence. After striking the fence, Stone’s vehicle backed up. While still in reverse, the vehicle then struck two other parked vehicles. As Stone’s vehicle was traveling in reverse, it pushed one of the parked vehicles through the lawn until the vehicle was pinned underneath the trailer of a another vehicle. All vehicles other than Stone’s were legally parked and unoccupied. Damage up to $25,000.
Marshall
Officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:
11:02 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 7700 block Redwood Road, Plymouth. Driver: Zackary Armentrout, 24, Culver. Police were notified of an accident within Jellystone Campground. Police went to the area of the campground and observed an Ezgo golf cart had crashed into a shed along with a water line and fence, causing damage to all. Armentrout explained he had been drinking beer and lost control of the golf cart, hitting the shed and water line. He was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He is currently on parole. Bond was set at $3,000.
