WARSAW — The start of August means it’s almost time for students to go back to school. With that comes planning after school meals and helping kids do homework, while also preparing them physically and mentally for whatever may happen during the regular school day. Many local organizations in the community came together for a back to school health fair from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1.
The Kosciusko County WIC Program hosted the fair, allowing families to learn about resources in the area such as healthcare, safety and food. During the event, parents and kids received free goodies, including food, books and balloons.
More than 15 organizations hosted booths during the health fair at the Health Services Pavilion. Some booths even had games for children to play while their parents learned about resources available in the area. The Kosciusko County Early Head Start booth had a bean bag game, and the Healthy Families booth hosted a bottle filling activity.
A farmer’s market was also located just outside of the pavilion for people to get fresh produce. Items available at the stands included green beans, tomatoes, and peppers.
The Beaman Home; Before5; Bowen Center; Combined Community Services; Lutheran EMS; Warsaw Fire Department; Kosciusko County Early Head Start; Healthy Families; Heartline Pregnancy Center; Joe’s Kids; Kosciusko Community Hospital; Kosciusko Cares; Kosciusko County Tobacco Coalition; Kosciusko Literacy Services; Medication Dental Assistance; The Farmers’ Market; and Kosciusko County WIC Program all had tables set up at the health fair.
