Robert Dean Dittman, 51, Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, and longtime Rochester resident, passed away at 2:55 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.

He was born on July 28, 1966, in Rochester, the son of Harold H. and Mary (Beard) Dittman. He had worked for Manitou Training Center for over thirty years and in the past had worked at McDonald’s. He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, Rochester, had attended Carey Services, Wabash, and was an active participant in Special Olympics, having won numerous medals in track and field, bowling and basketball. In his spare time he enjoyed collecting beanie babies, Matchbox cars and working jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include his parents, Harold and Mary Dittman, Rochester; sisters: Dianna Holland, South Bend; Donna and husband David Fincher, Rochester; Angie and husband Steve Ritchey, Warsaw; Lisa and husband Brad Thomas, Rochester; brothers: David and wife Jan Dittman, Portageville, Mo.; Rick and wife Dawn Dittman, Rochester; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Rosemary Beard, Clarence and Iva Dittman and brother-in-law, Dwight Holland.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 22, at Community Presbyterian Church, Rochester. Friends may visit from 2-6 p.m. Saturday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester and one hour prior to service at the church on Sunday. Burial will be in Sycamore Cemetery, Mentone.
