KOSCIUSKO — Kosciusko County residents should be prepared for a hot weekend as the National Weather Service has declared an Excessive Heat Warning for the area. The warning is in effect from noon today, June 29, until 8 p.m. Sunday, July 1.
High temperatures are expected in the lower to middle 90s today, June 29, through Sunday. Increasing humidity levels will produce heat indexes that will peak between 100 and 110 degrees in the afternoon and early evenings all three days.
During this upcoming heat wave, use caution if you must be outside for any length of time. Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning. Drink plenty of water to replenish lost fluids. And most importantly, never leave a child or a pet in a hot vehicle, even for a short period of time.
The most vulnerable populations to heat are the elderly, those living alone and those without air conditioning. Check on family and friends
