On June 7, police in Syracuse were called by officers from the Akron Police Department in reference to a stolen vehicle. The Akron officers told the Syracuse police that they believed Bowen had stolen a silver Dodge Journey and that the vehicle might be found at a specific address in Syracuse.

Syracuse police proceeded to the provided address, but first learned that Bowen also had outstanding warrants for robbery and carrying a handgun without a license. Akron police told the Syracuse officers that the vehicle’s owner wanted the vehicle searched before it was returned. Police reported finding two syringes inside the vehicle.

Syracuse police proceeded to the apartment where they believed Bowen was located and were allowed into the residence by Arista Butcher, who police learned also had a warrant for arrest. Police said Bowen was lying on the couch when they entered the apartment and officers quickly put the man under arrest, along with the Butcher. Police reported also finding methamphetamine, heroin and paraphernalia in the apartment. Butcher told police she had purchased heroin from Bowen.

Bowen and Butcher were both booked into the Kosciusko County Jail. Bowen is scheduled for an Aug. 2 initial hearing at 8:15 a.m. in Kosciusko County Circuit Court.
