KOSCIUSKO — A Columbia City man was arrested after using counterfeit $100 bills at a local gas station on two separate occasions.

Trentin Dean Garwood, 26, 115 Madison St., Columbia City, is being charged with two counts of counterfeiting, level 6 felonies, and two counts of theft, class A misdemeanors.
On May 29, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department spoke with an employee of a local Marathon gas station. The employee advised that on May 24 and again on May 28, Garwood used a fake $100 bill to purchase small merchandise and receive money in exchange.
The officer observed the surveillance video and identified the subject using the fake bills as Garwood.
Garwood was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on June 24, with a $5,750 surety and cash bond.
