BREAKING — Pierceton Man Dies After Police Chase

KOSCIUSKO — A Pierceton man is dead after a police chase began in Kosciusko County and ended with a fatal accident in Whitley County.

William Kent, 57, Pierceton, was seen driving a Chevrolet pickup around 2 a.m. this morning, June 22, in Kosciusko County. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Whitley County. Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop the vehicle but Kent refused to yield to officer commands.

According to Warsaw Police Chief Scott Whitaker, while a Warsaw Police Department vehicle was pursuing Kent’s vehicle on SR 13, near Sidney, a firearm was shot out of a rear window. The Warsaw Police Officer was able to see the long firearm.

A pursuit continued through Kosciusko and Whitley Counties. Kent’s vehicle left the roadway at the intersection of SR 5 and CR 400S. The vehicle struck two trees and Kent died from injuries.
