Dorothy Grace Bristow, 92, of South Whitley, Ind., passed away at 1:20 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at her home.

She was born Aug. 3, 1920, in Washington Township, Whitley County, Ind., a daughter of the late William F. and Flora P. (Grace) Terman. Her formative years were spent in Washington Township. She graduated from Washington Center High School in 1938. On Dec. 17, 1938 she was united in marriage to James M. Bristow.

They made their home in Churubusco, Ind. During WWII they moved to Detroit to work in the factories for war production. In 1947, they moved to the family farm outside of South Whitley. In 1959, they moved to Urbana, Ill., moving to Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1961. Mr. Bristow proceded her in death. In 2001, Dorothy moved to South Whitley.

She began her employment with the former Blue Bell, Columbia City, Ind. Later she worked at Waltons Rexall Drug Store, South Whitley. In 1963, she went to work for ITT – Electro Optical Products Division, Fort Wayne. She worked in the clean room production facilities. Some parts were for the Apollo and Voyager Space Program. She retired in 1982. She was a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority.

She is survived by her daughter: Jana L. Shellman, Fort Wayne; a son: Jan A. Bristow, South Whitley; two grandsons: Phillip (Erin) Bristow, Indianapolis, Ind.; and Zachary A. Shellman, Sacramento, Calif.; two granddaughters: Leigh Ann (Calvin) McCormick, Naples, Italy: and Allison R. (Craig) Thrush, Auburn, Ind.; and six great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by a brother, Gail Terman.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 3, at the Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4 the funeral home with Pastor James Keckler of Parkwood Church of God officiating. The burial will be in the Nolt Cemetery.
