SANDUSKY, OHIO – It’s not the memories a lot of people had hoped to make. A power outage at Cedar Point stranded riders on some coasters in near 90-degree heat on Memorial Day.

The power went out after the driver of a car hit a power pole, a park spokesperson told the Toledo Blade. The outage, which occurred at about 1:45 p.m. and was restored two hours later, reportedly affected about one-third of the park’s rides.

“All of the rides that were affected safely came to a stop and all guests are being escorted off,” Cedar Point spokesperson Tony Clark said, according to the Blade.

Confused guests were finally alerted to the power outage via a tweet at 2:23pm which read: “We’re currently experiencing a power outage in a portion of the park. Ohio Edison is currently addressing this and will restore power as quickly as possible. Thanks for your patience!”

According to people on Twitter, some of the rides people were stuck on were Millennium Force, Rougarou, Sky Ride and WindSeeker. People in the park also reported the outage closed Steel Vengeance, Raptor and GateKeeper.

Anyone affected by the power outage can return to Cedar Point anytime from now through Labor Day for free with proof of their ticket purchase from today, according to the Blade via Tony Clark.
