Max Workman

Max Workman, 87, Syracuse, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 1:23 p.m. in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born Sept. 15, 1930, in Benton Township, Elkhart County, to Chester and Ruby Elenor (Moats) Workman.

A lifetime Syracuse resident, he was a graduate of Syracuse High School. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army from 1952 to 1953 as Private First Class during the Korean Conflict. He formerly operated a bulk fuel truck for Standard Oil Company but had a passion for farming, operating 80 acres. In particular, he was very proud of his family.

Survivors include a daughter: Rita (spouse Mike) Lewis, Warsaw; a son: Tony (partner Dave Kardok) Workman, Harper’s Ferry, W. Va.; grandchildren: Michael (spouse Sarah)  Lewis, Fishers;  Elizabeth (companion Anthony Clark) Lewis, Indianapolis; Carey (spouse Alli) Lewis, Warsaw; and three great-grandsons.

Private family services will be conducted. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, is entrusted with arrangements.
