Marjorie K. Brown, 77, of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away at 10:28 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Summit City Nursing and Rehabilitation where she had been a resident since 1995.

She was born May 23, 1935 in Peru, Ind., to William R. and Esther N. (Biggs) Yaney. Her formative years spent in Columbia City, Ind. She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School and attended Hanover College. She graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education and was a member of Phi Mu women’s fraternity.

She first worked at Syracuse Elementary School, Syracuse, Ind., before moving to California where she taught at Livermore School for over 10 years. She then returned to Columbia City, before moving to Fort Wayne.

Surviving relatives include her brother: William R. (Joyce) Yaney Jr., Churubusco, Ind.; and a nephew: Patrick Yaney, Fort Wayne.

The graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Greenhill Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
