WARSAW – The Warsaw baseball team could not get the bats going Wednesday night.

The Tigers managed just four hits in losing 6-2 to Elkhart Memorial in the Northern Lakes Conference finale.

Memorial scored three runs in the first inning to take the lead from the start. Warsaw answered with a pair of tallies in the home half of the first frame. The Chargers then scored two in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Memorial outhit the Tigers 9-4 in the league contest.

Liam Patton led the offense for Warsaw with a two-run homer.

Michael Nunez went four innings as the starter on the hill for the Tigers and allowed two runs.

Senior Nolan Grose pitched a complete game with five strikeouts for Memorial. Jordan Siddons had two hits and scored two runs for the winners. Landon Lee had two hits with a double and Dylan Pressler two hits with a double and two RBI for the Chargers.

Memorial beat Warsaw 9-8 in their first meeting this season.

Warsaw drops to 5-14 overall and finishes at 3-11 in NLC play.

Warsaw won the junior varsity game 6-5.

Warsaw plays at Mishawaka Thursday night and hosts its own Tiger Tourney on Saturday. Warsaw will then face Penn next Thursday night in the Class 4-A Penn Sectional.

Memorial plays at Elkhart Central Friday night and at South Bend Riley Saturday. The Chargers then play at Mishawaka Marian Monday night. Memorial will play either Concord or Northridge in a semifinal game of the Penn Sectional on Saturday, May 26 at 10 a.m.
