Pierceton Town Council Discusses Unsafe Buildings, Senior Citizens Center
PIERCETON — The Pierceton Town Council meeting covered a wide range of territory during its meeting Monday, May 14.
The Kosciusko County Health Department recently investigated a building on Tower Street, as a neighbor had complained about the building’s condition.
The property owner for the building hasn’t responded to letters from the town council regarding the building’s condition.
It was also announced that REAL Services will no longer be hosting meals at the Pierceton Senior Citizens Center. However, the building will still be used weekly for seniors who wish to play games and socialize.
Town Marshal Tim Sammons informed the board that the Pierceton Police Department has two reserve officers who have started training.
Sammons also stated that this would be the last year he would host the D.A.R.E. program. Board President Matt Brubaker thanked Sammons for all the work he’s done in the program.
The Pierceton Chamber of Commerce is also sponsoring a vintage motorcycle show from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at Brower Park. Market Street will be closed during the event.
The theme for this year’s Pierceton Days Festival is “Welcome to the Jungle.” Pierceton Elementary School principal Mike McClain will be the parade marshal at the event.
