Local Departments Respond To Chemical Leak At Warsaw Business

WARSAW — At 11:06 a.m. today, May 9, Plain Township Fire Department and Warsaw Wayne Fire Territory received a 911 call for a chemical leak occurring at Airworx Construction Equipment, 515 Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Fire departments arrived on scene and observed a small chemical leak inside an Expedited Freight Systems semi-trailer.

Elkhart Fire Department Hazmat was called to assist at 1:20 p.m. Fire crews contained the leak to that semi-trailer, except for a minute portion to spill on the ground that was quickly contained. The leak was fully contained and controlled at 2:40 p.m.

Other assisting agency’s included American Red Cross, City of Warsaw employees, Kosciusko EMA, Winona Lake Fire Department and North Webster Fire Department.  

All personnel were unharmed and there were no threats of hazards to surrounding area or water ways.
