KOSCIUSKO — A Pierceton man was sentenced in Kosciusko Circuit Court Monday, May 7, for dealing meth after a controlled purchase.

Bryan Gene Rice, 154 EMS R3E Lane, Pierceton, was charged with dealing in methamphetamine, a level 4 felony.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Oct. 16, 2017, the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force conducted a controlled purchase of meth from Rice. He sold the buyer meth in exchange for documented task force funds.

Defense attorney Jay Rigdon said that Rice is aware of his criminal history and that he recognizes his mistakes.

“Give him the opportunity to fix his behavior and help him get his life straightened out,” said Rigdon.

Rice also spoke during his sentencing.

“Work release would really help me get back on my feet,” said Rice.

Judge Michael Reed sentenced Rice to 3 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections. He is required to pay $120 in restitution to the drug task force and must successfully complete a substance abuse evaluation.
