Girls Tennis

The NorthWood girls tennis team finished 0-2 in the Culver Academy Invitational.

The Panthers dropped a 4-1 final to Penn. Reegan Miller picked up the lone point for NorthWood with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles action.

NorthWood also lost 3-2 to Fairfield. Gretchen Adams posted a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles. The No. 1 doubles team of Kennedy Wiens and Betsy Nunemaker won 3-6, 6-3, 10-4.

The NorthWood junior varsity team competed  in the NLC Tournament held at Warsaw. Plymouth won the team title with 21 points.

The No. 1 doubles team of Caroline Mullet and Olivia Feller placed second overall with a 2-1 record. Kate Stillson was third at No. 1 singles with a 2-1 mark. The No. 2 doubles team of Paige Henschen and Abigail Richner was fifth with a 2-1 record, while Kennedy Krull was sixth at No. 3 singles at 1-2 and Jessica Kramp was eighth at No. 2 singles at 0-3.

Host Warsaw had a pair of individual champions in the JV event. Anna Grill won the title at No. 3 singles and the team of Annie Burnett and Katrielle Rodgers won the No. 2 doubles title.

Avery Christy of Plymouth was the No. 1 singles champion with Sydni Weir of the Pilgrims winning at No. 2 singles. The Concord team of Hannah Schraw and Samone Ivagnilio won the No. 1 doubles crown.

NorthWood (9-6) will take part in the NLC Tournament Wednesday through Friday at Plymouth.

 

Softball

The NorthWood softball team went 1-1 in the Fremont Invitational.

The Panthers opened play with a 7-5 loss to Northern Lakes Conference foe Goshen.

Gracie Clark led the way for NorthWood with a pair of hits, including a double. Lili Lomeli, Amanda Jenkins, Kennedy Hochstetler, Kylie Hochstetler and Halie DeMien each had a hit for the Panthers.

NorthWood finished the day by downing Elkhart Christian Academy 17-2 in the consolation contest.

Alexis Klotz had three hits, including a pair of doubles. DeMien had three hits, Clark a pair and Kylie Hoschstetler and Kylie Thornton one each.

NorthWood, now 9-9, plays at NLC foe Wawasee on Monday evening.
