Iolah Vernier

Iolah VernierIolah Mae Vernier, 91, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at I.U. Goshen Hospital in Goshen, Ind.

She was born on May 1, 1921, in Hillsdale County, Mich., to Floyd R. and Lula Bell (Blount) Annis. On July 21, 1939, in Angola, Ind., she married Donald H. Vernier who preceded her on March 9, 2006.

She graduated in 1939 from Frontier High School in Frontier, Mich. She was the former owner and operator of Lac La Belle Resort in Watersmeet, Mich., for 30 years and was a member of Land O’ Lakes Bible Church in Land O’ Lakes, Wis. She has been a Syracuse, Ind., area resident since 1998, coming here from Land O’ Lakes.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherrie Shafer of Syracuse.

She was preceded by her parents, husband, infant sister and infant brother.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, at the Frontier Cemetery, Clark Rd., Frontier, Mich., with Reverend Don Gentry of the New Hope United Brethren Church in Camden, Mich., officiating.

Memorial bequest may be given to Donor’s Choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
