SHIPSHEWANA — Spring is in the air, which means the largest flea market in the Midwest is getting ready to open for another season. The Shipshewana Flea Market will kick off the 2018 season on Tuesday, May 1.

This market is a do-not-miss Hoosier tradition in the heart of Amish Country. Shoppers will find nearly 900 spaces filled with everything from home décor, to fresh produce, to clothing, to food and much more.

“We estimate that an average of 12,000 to 15,000 people come here to shop each week during the season, and there really is a huge variety of vendors,” said Michael Christner, Shipshewana Flea Market Director.

The Shipshewana Flea Market is open every Tuesday and Wednesday from May 1 through Sept. 26 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Special holiday openings include Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

The flea market is located in Shipshewana, Indiana, a small, yet popular tourist town of 650 people. The area attracts generations of families to take in the town’s Amish-based lifestyle.

Visitors are urged to stop by the flea market’s information booth to learn about the area and to sign up for hourly drawings. Shoppers can also view a vendor directory on the free Shipshewana Trading Place mobile app, or they can pick up a print directory when they arrive at the entrance gates.
