William ‘Bill’ F. Karst

William “Bill” F. Karst, 89, Goshen, living most of his life in Cromwell, passed away at 11 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Courtyard Healthcare Center in Goshen.

Mr. Karst was born Dec. 3, 1928, to Julius Thomas and Leatha Sloma (Kline) Karst in Huntington County. On March 1, 1949, he married Doris Lorene Paul in Markel. They spent 40 years together prior to her passing away on Oct. 24, 1989. On Feb. 14, 1992, he married Lorena May (Marchand) Davis in Whitley County; she has since passed away in July of 2017.

He served his country honorably in the United States Army. After his time in the military he spent his career in the manufacturing business retiring from Dana Corporation in 1991 after 33 years of faithful service to them. He was a lifetime area resident, an avid card player and enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting. Bill was a member of the Cromwell-Kimmell Lions club for 50 years and attended the Stone’s Hill Community Church in Ligonier. He will be missed by so many.

He is survived by his children: Jere Karst, Albion; Jeanine (Wayne) Garber, Syracuse; Jan Morr, Kimmell; four step-children; Roger (Debbie) Davis, Larwill; Gary Davis, Texas; Randy (Laura) Davis, Indianapolis; Jeanelle Johnson (Daniel Iavagnilio), Ligonier; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 29 step great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Delores) Karst, Huntington; and sister, Rose (Bill) Arivet of Huntington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Doris (Paul) Karst; brothers, Herman Karst, Ralph Karst; sisters, Bernice Householder, Mildred Sieber, Mary Schoeff, Bertha Rosen, Doris Shaffer; daughter-in-law, Connie Karst; and step-daughter, Debbie Davis.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 19,  at Stone’s Hill Community Church – 151 West Stones Hill Road Ligonier, IN, 46767. Pastor Joey Nelson will officiate. Private burial will take place at a later date at Sparta Cemetery.

There will be a time of visitation from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, at Yeager Funeral Home – 1589 Lincolnway South Ligonier, IN 46767.
