The 1933 V-8 Ford Sedan was reportedly one of Dillinger’s favorite cars. Most reports indicate that Dillinger was driving a car very similar to the automobile displayed at the Old Jail Museum when he carried out his raid in 1934.

WARSAW —  The Kosciusko County Historical Society observed the 84th anniversary of John Dillinger’s infamous raid on the Warsaw Police station, Friday, April 13. The event brought Warsaw into the national spotlight. Dillinger was a notorious bank robber who was accused of robbing 24 banks and four police stations between 1933 – 1934. He was eventually named public enemy number one by the FBI.

Guided tours set out Friday evening from the Old Jail Museum, 121 N. Indiana St., Warsaw, every fifteen minutes starting at 6:30 p.m. The tour groups were led through downtown Warsaw, following the path taken when Dillinger and a member of his gang attacked Warsaw Police Officer Judd Pittenger, taking his gun and forcing him to take them to the police station where they stole three bulletproof vests.

Proceeds from the event will be used by the Kosciusko County Historical Society to assist in their valuable work of preserving history.
