Softball

The Warsaw softball team picked up a road win with an 11-5 non-conference victory at South Bend Washington Friday night.

The Tigers started quick with three runs in the first inning. Warsaw added a pair in the third frame and three more in the fourth to build an 8-0 lead.

Lindsey Bradley led the 10-hit attack for the Tigers as she went 3-5 at the plate.

The trio of Izzy Dittmar, Katie Anderson and Saylor Bradley each also had multiple hits for Warsaw.

Courtney Chookie collected the pitching win. She went six innings, allowing one run on four hits with three strikeouts. Kennedy Tennant pitched one inning of relief for the Tigers.

Washington had nine errors in the contest.

The game was originally slated to be played on Saturday as a doubleheader but was moved to a single game Friday night due to the forecast calling for rain Saturday.

Warsaw, now 2-3, will open Northern Lakes Conference play at Wawasee Monday evening.

Baseball

The Warsaw baseball team outscored Columbia City for a 14-12 win.

The Tigers took an 8-0 lead after the first two innings only to see the hosts score seven runs in the third frame. Warsaw scored a pair in the fourth, three more in the fifth and a single tally in the sixth.

Warsaw outhit the Eagles 14-12 in the offensive matchup.

Jared Hawley and Matt Shoemaker each had three hits to lead the way for Warsaw.

Avery Remocaldo picked up the pitching win in relief for the Tigers and Mason Reber notched the save.

Warsaw, now 2-1, will open Northern Lakes Conference play by hosting Wawasee on Monday. The Tigers game at South Bend Riley Saturday was postponed on Friday due to the weather forecast.
