WINONA LAKE – A strong start helped the Lakeland Christian Academy boys basketball team to a 53-45 win Tuesday night over Granger Christian.

The Cougars led 16-11 after the opening period of play en route to the victory. LCA led 28-22 at halftime before outscoring Granger Christian 18-10 in the third quarter to take control.

Collin Price canned a game-high 18 points to pace coach Lee Compson’s squad to the win.

Zarek Finley had 15 points and nine rebounds for LCA, which improves to 5-8 on the season. Calvin Prinsen had eight points and six rebounds for the winners. Chris Silveus scored five points, Chris Maron four and Logan Pitts three.

Haven Russell led Granger Christian with 12 points. David Kalk and Bobby Dunbar each scored 11 points for the guests.

LCA plays at Wabash on Tuesday.
