photo-1Betty I. Baney, 85, of Bourbon, Ind., passed away at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013, in Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, Ind. She had been in failing health.

Betty was born Dec. 14, 1927, at Fort Wayne to Ward and Ethel Leora Welch Grim. She has been a resident of Bourbon since 1953 and was a graduate of South Side High School of Fort Wayne in 1946. Betty was a homemaker worked for 9 years at Lincoln Life Insurance Company of Fort Wayne.

Betty and her husband, Richard, began their baking career with Tastie Pastries and she co-owned the famous “Eby Cookies,” which were made  in Bourbon and later baked for Amish Acres for over 19 years.

She enjoyed her family, her friends and spending time with Richard watching sports. As a grandparent she loved her grandchildren and their activities as well. She was a member of The Bourbon American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Bourbon First United Methodist Church.

On Sept. 6, 1952, she joined in marriage to Richard L. Baney who passed away March 6, 2012.

She is survived by her two children: Cindy (Douglas) Greaf, Fort Wayne; and Kevin (Kimberley) Baney, Warsaw, Ind.; and her grandchildren; Erica Subler, Haley Shelby, Ashley Herring and Taylor Baney; and her great-grandchild: Kira Herring.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters: Geraldine Richardson, Annabelle Ake; and her brother: Bernard Grim.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home 115 S. Main St. Bourbon. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with Reverands Stormy Scherer-Berry and Mark Cottrill officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Bourbon.

The family requests memorial contributions to: the Bourbon First United Methodist Church or the Bourbon American Legion Post#424 in her memory.
