WARSAW — If you thought your bus ride to school was challenging how would you like to travel to school in a bus like this?

E. H. Blaine stands in the snow in 1923 by the Leesburg school bus he drove for many years. Some would say it was an improvement over the horse drawn hacks that were used before the automobile was invented, but others might argue the point.

The Kosciusko County Historical Society still has copies of “Schools of Kosciusko County, 1835 – 1975” available for $45. The 280 page hardcover book contains old photos and information with personal remembrances from every county township school.

The Kosciusko County Historical Society also has a variety of books about county history for sale. Titles include, WWII, Soapbox Derby, Small town histories, County History through the years, and our popular – Kosciusko County Murders.

The Old Jail Museum and Research Library located at 121 N. Indiana St., is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Library staff is available to assist you in your family research. Tours are by donation.
