
CULVER – Most of the state of Indiana is still in the throes of basketball and the conclusion of winter sports. Yet, spring sports are starting to pop up, including boys and girls track. Wawasee found itself at Culver Academy Friday night to open its season at the CMA Indoor Invite.
Wawasee had three winners on the boys side and a pair on the girls side as each team finished second in its respective tables. The CGA girls topped Wawasee, 105-92, in a five-team field while the New Prairie boys topped Wawasee, 131-108, while the Academy was third at 105 in the four-team boys ledger.
The girls had Bailey Mayhew win the 220 dash at 30.40 and take second in the 440 at 1:05.80. Hannah-Marie Lamle won long jump at 16-6.25 and place second in the 45-yard hurdles at 6.97.
The boys had Tom Conley win the mile at 5:04.60, LaShaun Morris take the 220 at 27.59 and Elisha Tipping throw 44-10 to win shot put. Keyan Peete was second in both high jump and long jump at 5-3 and 18-4, respectively, Mark Miller was runner-up in the 440 at 56.5 and Eric Yankosky was second on judgment in the 40 dash at 4.9.
Wawasee will continue the indoor circuit with a visit to the Indiana State Qualifier at Indiana Wesleyan University next weekend.
