AKRON — Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation has been added to the list of local schools receiving threats this week. A statement from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department was released this morning that detailed the threat.

A complaint was filed last night, Feb. 27, with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department due to a student within the Tippecanoe Valley School corporation threatening to harm other people. The threat was done by a social media post and indicated that the acts were to take place today, Feb. 28.

An investigation was immediately launched by deputies with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

The juvenile student was identified and apprehended on Tuesday night without incident. Through the investigation, it is believed that the student did in fact make specific threats to harm others by posting the intentions on social media.

Several additional resources have been deployed throughout the school corporation to allow a safe and secure environment. The investigation is ongoing and additional safety measures are in place at the schools to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Parents and students are encouraged to contact law enforcement and school officials if they see or hear something suspicious or an inappropriate social media post of any kind.
