KOSCIUSKO — Two inmates and two other individuals were connected to drug trafficking after the Kosciusko County Jail nurse discovered drugs inside an inmate’s lotion bottle.
Taylor Brandon, Mentone, was arrested on Feb. 12, for charges of dealing methamphetamine, aiding/inducing trafficking with an inmate, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a synthetic drug.
Donta Redden, Winona Lake, has a warrant out for his arrest on charges of trafficking with an inmate, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a synthetic drug.
Inmate Rhydeem Hudson, Warsaw, is facing additional charges of aiding/inducing dealing in methamphetamine and aiding/inducing trafficking with an inmate.
Inmate Darrell Spice, Granger, is facing additional charges of aiding/inducing dealing in methamphetamine.
On Jan. 5, the Kosciusko County Jail nurse discovered contraband inside a large bottle of body lotion that had been brought into the jail for Hudson. Inside the bottle, four plastic bags were discovered which contained synthetic drugs and methamphetamine.
Redden had brought the bottle of lotion into the Kosciusko County Jail on Jan. 4, and requested the lotion be delivered to Hudson. Surveillance video was obtained that showed the exchange.
Officers were able to obtain recorded phone calls made on Jan. 3, from Hudson to his girlfriend, Brandon. During the phone calls, they discussed bringing drugs into the jail in a lotion bottle. Hudson had fellow inmate Spice give Brandon instructions on where to go and who to talk to in order to obtain the drugs.
Another recorded phone call was obtained in which Hudson is on the phone with Brandon while the drug purchase is occuring. There’s discussion on how much money to spend, how much weight to buy and what the product looks like.
The next recorded phone call between Hudson and Brandon includes discussion on how to package the drugs and the size of the bottle of lotion to be purchased. Brandon confirms during the phone call that the drugs are packaged inside the bottle and she is on her way to meet Redden to give him the bottle.
On Jan. 4, Hudson told Brandon he did not receive the lotion from the jail staff and that they are on to him. Both Hudson and Brandon then deny knowing Redden even though they had previously talked about him multiple times.
