Betty Jean Hinton, 92, Fort Wayne, passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Jan., 28, 2018, at her home. She was born May 8, 1925 in Fort Wayne, to Orval O. and Vera F. (Shock) Brubaker.

She grew up in Fort Wayne and graduated in 1943 from South Side High School in Fort Wayne. She was married on Dec. 2, 1944, in Norman, Okla. to Richard D. “Dick” Hinton, who preceded her May 7, 2010. She moved to North Webster in 1976 where she had been coming to Webster Lake since she was child. She then moved to Leeds, Ala. for a short time before returning to Fort Wayne in 2013. She was a homemaker and formerly employed at Bowton Associates for ten years in Syracuse.

She formerly attended the North Webster Church of God, former member of the Tippecanoe Township Home Ec. Club in North Webster, and Past President of Kosciusko County Home Extension Club in Warsaw. She was a former Girl Scout Leader for ten years in Fort Wayne and Girl Scout Camp Director in Hopkinsville, Ky.

She is survived by three daughters: Kay J. (Michael Courtney) Blalock, St. Louis, Mo.; Marta J. (Gary) Zoller, Fort Wayne; Tina L. McDonald, Leeds, Ala.; ten grandchildren: Shanna Garrison, Tara Armstrong, Victoria McDonald, Jonathan Blalock, Andrew Blalock, Kyle McDonald, Matthew McDonald, Michael Zoller, Dan Zoller and Jennifer Lalos; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Frederick Brubaker, Fort Wayne.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a great granddaughter, Chloe; three sisters: Dorothy Elliott, Dolores Gaue and Bonnie Isenbarger; and two brothers: Ronald Brubaker and Harold Brubaker. 

Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, at Golden Years Assisted Living, 8300 Maysville Road, Fort Wayne with Pastor Jim Planter officiating. Private burial will take place at Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne. Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd 13 & CR 500N, North Webster, IN is in charge of arrangements.
