Grace College SportsMARION – The Grace College track and field team received its final preparation race for the postseason on Saturday with the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational.

The Lancers, who will start the postseason next week, had multiple personal records and another school record.

Isaiah Zeller highlighted Grace’s day when he set a school record. He broke a five-year-old pole vault record set by Luke Frauhiger in 2013; Zeller cleared 14-feet-1.25 to beat the old record by over six inches.

The men’s weight throw continued its strong indoor season by claiming four of the top eight positions. Isaac Stuckey was second at 54-8, and Jacob Brown was just behind him at 51-11.

Walker Hobbs and Caleb Brown were seventh and eighth in the weight throw, and Hobbs was also fifth in the shot put at 46-9.5.

Carter Meyer placed third in the 1,000-meter race in a time of 2:37.11, John Marhefka was eighth in the 1,000, and Thomas Hickerson was fourth in the long jump (21-2.5).

Noah Cole (60 dash), Joshua Pridgen (400) and Brendan Hamilton (800) all finished seventh with Cole producing a PR of 7.26 seconds in the prelims.

On the women’s side, Quinn Shelton finished fifth in the 400 at 1:04.80. Jessica Zvers (20:36.46) and Karla Singer (21:01.80) were seventh and eighth respectively in the 5000.

“This was a good meet to get us ready for the conference indoor championships next week,” said Grace head coach Jeff Raymond. “We had several PRs so we continue to improve. We’ll have to be ready to take it up another notch next week.”

The Lancers start the postseason on Friday with the Crossroads League Invitational back at IWU.
