Vance E. Lytle, 95, Akron, passed at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, at Mason Health Care Center of Warsaw.

He was born on Jan. 22, 1923, in Fulton County to William and Mary Jenny (Vance) Lytle.

On March 29, 1947, in Silver Lake, he married Arlene Anna Alexander, at her parents’ residence.

Lytle was a mechanic in the area which included working for South End Motors. He retired from American LaFrance where he delivered fire trucks and serviced others trucks.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He attended the Akron Church of God for over 60 years where he was an usher on many Sundays. He also served on the Yellow Creek Lake Campground Board. He had an affinity for Ford automobiles and drove them throughout his life. He enjoyed reading, mowing, and spending time at the restaurant with friends.

He is survived by his twin daughters: Sheryl Ruegner, Warsaw; Sharon (Terry) Tomlinson, Mansfield, Ohio; son, Randall (Carol) Lytle, Union, W. Va.; grandchildren: Cory Lytle, Ceridwen Ruegner, Cassandra Lytle, Wes Tomlinson, Shawn Ruegner and Eric Tomlinson; five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son-in-law, several sisters and a brother.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 8. Pastor Kathy Nelson will officiate. Burial will take place at Akron Cemetery with graveside military rites performed by Fulton County Honor Guard.
