Irish CoxIris Rose Cox, 84, of Columbia City, Ind., passed away at 1:42 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2013 at Parkview Oaks, Columbia City.

Born on Dec. 13, 1928 in Fort Wayne, Ind., she was the daughter of Paris and Hazel (Harmon) Standiford. On Jan. 16, 1949, she married Harold Eugene Cox in Waynedale, Ind. She and her husband managed and operated the Cox Family Farm until 1973. They were married for 64 years.

She moved to Whitley County, Ind., in 1948 from Covington Downs, Ind., in Allen County and resided in both Jefferson and Washington Townships, Ind. She graduated from Jefferson Center High School. From 1973 to May, 1991 she worked at Alcoils in Columbia City.

Survivors include her husband; son: Dale  E. (Renee) Cox, Albion, Ind.; daughters: Rita (Ed) Thompson-Sites, North Webster, Ind.;  Darlene (Jeff) Clack, Columbia City; Myra (Ron) Bolinger, Columbia City; LuAnn (Jim) Davies, Columbia City; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Francis and Ivan Standiford; and one infant sister: Imogene.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, April 8, at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in memory of Mrs. Cox’s to Laud Christian Church.
