
NORTH WEBSTER — Did you put on some extra pounds over the holidays? Is your New Year’s resolution to improve your fitness? Then come to ‘Let’s Move’ at 6 p.m. every Thursday, starting Jan. 11, at North Webster Community Public Library. ‘Let’s Move’ is a weekly dancing-for-fitness class. It’s an informal time of dancing to a variety of music, learning new dance steps and getting a great workout. It’s fun for adults of all ages and all fitness levels. If your treadmill routine is getting boring, jazz it up at ‘Let’s Move.’
The four-class Beginning Genealogy course starts at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8. The course is filling up fast, so if you are interested in learning how to get started researching your family tree, contact the circulation desk right away. The course is free, but advance registration is required with limited enrollment.
Enjoy the fun of books and stories with your baby or toddler during Lapsit Story Time, starting 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, and running through Feb. 2. Parents have a choice of attending either Tuesday or Friday sessions. Children, ages birth to 36 months, sit on their parent’s or caregiver’s lap and together experience stories in many formats, singing simple songs with hand motions and playing with scarves, shakers, bells and bubbles. Each 20 minute session is followed by 10 minutes of meaningful play. Parents are also provided resources for early literacy development. Registration is required to participate. Older kids, ages 5-12, will have freestyle building fun with Legos at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13. Lego Club meets the second Saturday each month, with piles of Legos provided. Parents are encouraged to join in. It’s a fun way to spend quality time with your child as well as fostering their creativity. Children under age 9 should be accompanied by an adult.
When the library is forced to close due to inclement weather, library closings will be announced on radio stations WILLIE 103.5 FM and WRSW 102.7 FM, television stations WNDU and WSBT and posted on Inkfreenews.com and the library’s Facebook page.
