Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
3:25 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, Warrior Path, Syracuse. Driver: Molly E. Jones, 16, EMS B40 Lane, Leesburg. Jones’ vehicle struck a parked vehicle when Jones was backing out of a parking space at Wawasee High School. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
4:55 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, SR 15, Warsaw. Drivers: Philip D. Klatt, 64, Market Street, Warsaw, and Matthew R. Boggs, 40, Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. The vehicles collided in a parking lot. Damage up to $10,000.
1:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, South Zimmer Road, south of White Industrial Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Sidney R. Ousley, 16, North CR 600E, Rochester. Warsaw Police Department responded to a pickup truck in a ditch with keys in the ignition. Evidence showed that the driver left the roadway on Zimmer Road and drove across several sets of railroad tracks before striking a large metal post that held up the railroad crossing arm and flashing lights. The vehicle then continued northbound on Zimmer Road before coming to rest in a ditch, approximately 1,000 feet north of the initial crash. WPD contacted Glenn’s Wrecker Service to impound the vehicle. WPD was contacted a short time later by Ousley, who advised he was driving northbound on Zimmer Road when another vehicle crossed the center line and was driving directly at him. Ousley stated he left the roadway to avoid a collision with the other vehicle. Evidence at the scene showed no sign of another vehicle by looking at tire tracks on the snow-covered roads. The vehicle, which was registered to Ousley’s father, had been reported stolen. Norfolk Southern Railroad was contacted and advised of the damage to their property. After assessing the damage, it was estimated that the cost of replacing the railroad post and arm would be $50,000. Damage up to $100,000.
12:32 p.m. Monday, Dec. 25, Henderson Drive and Ranch Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Arissa A. Caudill, 23, Rosemont Avenue, Warsaw, and Monte L. Powell, 66, Pheasant Ridge Drive, Warsaw. The vehicles collided when Caudill pulled onto Ranch Road without yielding the right of way to Powell. Damage up to $10,000.
11:02 a.m. Monday, Dec. 25, Jalynn Drive, west of Access Road, Warsaw. Drivers: John E. Mattson, 29, South Mallard Road, Mentone, and John E. Mattson, 49, East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. Mattson’s vehicle rear-ended his father’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
