WARSAW — The Old Jail Museum and Research Library will be closed from Dec. 16 through Mar. 6, 2018. The museum has enjoyed another year of history collection and display. Many new items are on display thanks to generous donations, and many more items detailing our county’s history have been placed in our files.

The obituary project continues to keep many volunteers busy in our research library. The project involves finding obituaries, scanning the information and attaching to the Beacon cemetery website so when a grave stone is researched right next to the stone is the obituary.

During January and February much work will be done on displays and building maintenance. Also in January and February is “Work Day Wednesday”. Each Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. volunteers will be at the museum to work on the obituary project. Additional volunteers are always welcome. The museum’s gift shop has publications about every town in the county as well as books on the Soapbox Derby, World War II Veterans, the story of orthopedic industry, church histories, and the very popular county murders book. Join the Kosciusko County Historical Society and you will receive four issues each year of our history magazine, “The Thaddeus”, which is filled with interesting historical facts of the people, communities, places and businesses in our county.
