Residence Addition Approved By County BZA
WARSAW — It was the last meeting of 2017 for the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals and among the agenda items was a petition by Timothy Kolar for a garage addition at his home on CR 450E in Tippecanoe Township. The regular monthly meeting of the BZA was held Tuesday morning, Dec. 12, in Warsaw.
Kolar requested a variance, approved by the BZA, because the addition is 2.3 feet from an access easement.
Other agenda items included:
• Timber Creek Estates was granted an exception to change or alter a non-conforming mobile home park by allowing an office to remain as placed on an old home site and allow temporary RVs to be used as mobile homes in a commercial district. The property is located on the north side of US 30, south of Corridor Drive in Wayne Township. As conditions to the approval, trees must be planted on the eastern property line due to a neighbor’s concerns and RV units must be monthly rentals.
• Kimberly Anderson was granted a variance to a residence accessory addition, adding on to and raising a garage at 5 feet from the right of way, not the half-foot as originally requested, on EMS B61 Lane in Tippecanoe Township.
• Lisa Mast was granted a variance to allow a shed to remain as placed 14 feet from the right of way and 6 feet from the side property line on EMS C19A Lane in Plain Township.
• Kosko Conservation was granted an exception to allow construction of a storage building in an agricultural district on the south side of Fox Farm Road in Wayne Township.
• Carl Wireman was granted a variance to permit the construction of a residence addition, a covered porch, 19 feet from the right of way on the east side of CR 950W at the intersection with CR 75N in Harrison Township.
• John Stringer III was granted a variance to allow two non-conforming parcels to be re-configured on the south side of Black Point Road, west of Pine Drive in Turkey Creek Township.
• Elaine Laux’s petition for an appeal to the Area Planning Commission staff’s interpretation of the conditions of approval for a previously granted petition was approved. In September she was granted a variance to allow construction of a second floor residence addition a little more than 2 feet from the road right of way on the southwest side of EMS B48A Lane in Tippecanoe Township. As a condition to this approval, the existing footprint can’t be increased.
