SYRACUSE — A Syracuse man was arrested after he raped a sleeping woman inside his house.

Timothy Eugene Rottger, 43, 10018 N. CR 400E, Syracuse, is being charged with rape, a level 3 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Rottger was drinking alcohol at his home on Thursday, Dec. 7, with his wife and another female.
The victim fell asleep in the guest bedroom. According to the victim, she was later woken by Rottger having sexual intercourse with her. The victim was able to force Rottger off of her and called 911 to report the assault. Rottger pleaded with her to not call the police.
An officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department arrived and spoke with Rottger. Rottger stated that he went into the spare bedroom to talk with the victim and caressed her arm and back. He also kissed her before leaving the room to take a shower.
After taking a shower, he claims the victim exited the bedroom saying he raped her. Rottger was transported to the Kosciusko County Jail and asked to provide a DNA sample but he refused.
The victim was transported to the Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Center for an examination and collection of evidence.
Rottger is currently being held at the Kosciusko County Jail with a bond of $20,250.
