Robert Vardaman Sr.

Robert Vardaman Sr., 77, Rochester passed away at 5:12 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at his residence.

On July 6, 1940, in LaPorte, Robert was born to Jerry and Mildred Hatfield Vardaman.

Answering the call of patriotism, Robert joined the US Marine Corp. As a PFC, he was honorably discharged in 1960.

Robert and Pauline E. Brooks were married on Oct. 14, 1960 in Michigan City. Their union of 57 years produced a daughter and three sons. Sadly, Pauline passed away on Oct. 9, 2017.

As a plant manager, Robert worked for Versatile Tool & Die of Elkhart for many years. He was a member of the American Legion. Enjoying video games and working outside was a great way for him to relax.

Robert is lovingly remembered by a daughter, Carla Reynolds and husband Kenneth of Rochester; two sons:  Robert Vardaman Jr. and companion Judy of Michigan City, Jerry A. Vardaman and companion Ashley of Indianapolis; four grandchildren: Donald Lee Christensen Jr., Ronald Eugene Vardaman Jr., Emily Ann Burkholder, Hunter Andrew Wyatt Vardaman; a brother, Jim Vardaman of LaPorte; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Robert in death are his parents, wife and a son Ronald Eugene Vardaman Sr.

Private family services were in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester. Interment will be in the Sand Hill Cemetery.
