Edgewood Cagers Collect Championships

MIDDLEBURY – The Edgewood Middle School boys basketball teams returned home as champions Saturday.
Both of the teams continued their success as the earned titles in the Northridge Tournament.
The 7th grade team topped host Northridge 37-36 in the championship contest. Drew Beckman had 15 points to lead the winners. Russ Winchester had nine points and Jack Murrell seven for the champions. The 7th grade team beat East Noble 46-14 in their firs game. Murrell led the way with 12 points. Neez Smith and Winchester each had 10 points in the win.
The 8th grade team also defeated Northridge in the title game with a 40-33 final. Jackson Dawson was the top scorer as he netted 11 points in the win. Caden Graham had seven points and Jeremy Ryman and Dylan Vermilyer each added six points. Edgewood beat East Noble 47-10 in their first game. Dawson led the way with 15 points as 10 different players scored for the winners.
Both Edgewood teams are now 5-1 on the season.
