Dillon Estepp had an outstanding effort Saturday to lead the Warsaw wrestling team in the Valparaiso Super Duals.

The WCHS senior went 5-0 on the day as the Tigers posted a 2-3 team mark. The heavyweight pinned all five of his foes during the tourney.

Warsaw beat Boone Grove 42-39 and Michigan City 51-36. The Tigers lost to Kankakee Valley 52-27, South Bend Adams 40-34 and Valparaiso 45-36.

Junior Jose Grimmett went 4-1 on the day at 145 with four wins by pin. Sophomore Isaiah Owens was 4-1 at 106 with three pins and a major decision win.

Junior Gavin Truex was 3-2 at 220 with two pins and freshman Brandon Estepp 3-2 at 152 with pins in his final three matches of the day.

A handful of Tigers, Jose Martinez, Brock Hogenson, Brock Hueber, Josh West and Thaddeus Baker each had two wins in the tourney.

Warsaw, now 4-12, will compete in a conference match at Plymouth Tuesday night.

Swimming

Warsaw pulled off both titles at the Warsaw Swimming Invite.

Led by seven event championships, the Tiger boys cruised to a 595-368 landslide over runner-up Rochester while Fort Wayne Snider took third at 366. The Tiger girls had just three championships, but stacked up a myriad of top-threes to build 563 points to best South Bend Riley’s 533 points.

Nick Zogbi and Grant Knight had a great individual days for Warsaw. Zogbi won both the 200 freestyle at 1:56.03 and the backstroke at 1:00.41. Zogbi also helped the Tigers to a 3:32.27 win in the 400 freestyle relay, joined by Evan Borchers, Jacob LaLonde and Alex Cook. Knight took the individual medley at 2:07.66 and helped the 200 free relay to a 1:33.40 winner with Ian Deming, Cook and Borchers, and opened the day with Zach LaLonde, Deming and Michael Ray for a 1:43.27 medley relay win.

Borchers added a third win with a 57.38 in the butterfly.

The Lady Tigers had just one individual swim win, achieved by Delaney Wihebrink in the breaststroke at 1:08.65. The Warsaw medley relay opened with a 1:56.25 win by Wihebrink, Lauren Kuhl, Taylor Gunter and Olivia Herman and Wihebrink, Gunter, Herman and Laurel Moeller took the 200 free relay title with a 1:44.20.
