Valley Basketball: Free Throws Sink Vikings

Tippy Valley SportsKNOX – The free throw line was worth a lot to Knox Friday night.

The host Redskins outscored Tippecanoe Valley 22-6 from the charity stripe in a 68-60 non-conference boys basketball win.

Knox led 11-5 after the opening quarter and 30-20 at halftime en route to the victory.

Tanner Trippiedi had a big game for the Vikings. The sophomore guard canned 20 points to lead his team.

Cam Parker scored 17 points and Dakota Parker and Parker Dalrymple each added eight points for Valley.

Alex Morrison led the Vikings with eight rebounds.

Valley, which falls to 0-3, shot 23-53 overall from the field. The Vikings were 8-21 from deep and 6-14 from the free throw line.

Eian Coad drained eight treys to score a game-high 28 points for Knox. Cooper Broeker hit 12-14 free throws to score 21 points for the winners.

Knox was 18-38 from the field, including 10-18 from distance. The hosts hit 22-29 free throws in the contest.

Valley plays at Oregon-Davis Tuesday night. Knox, now 2-1, hosts Peru Saturday night.
