Sam Manikowski got off to a red-hot start and his Argos teammates followed suit in a 62-23 win at Lakeland Christian Academy Friday night.
Manikowski had 10 points after the first quarter and 16 by halftime as Argos exploded to a 31-15 lead at the break. Manikowski would go on to outscore LCA himself, netting 24 points on the night.
Luke VanderWeele would score 14 points and Owen Nifong chipped in nine points for the Dragons, which are 3-0 to start the season. Argos aided its cause by going 14-15 from the free throw line (93 percent) on the night.
LCA couldn’t get anyone going offensively, settling for eight points from Elijah Raymond, six of those on three-pointers in the second half for the 6-2 forward. Raymond would add seven rebounds in a yeoman’s effort. Nine of the 11 combined points from Jake Harmon and Josh McDaniel came on three-point makes.
The JV game was just as lopsided in a 61-25 Argos victory.
LCA (1-2) will look to reverse course with a Saturday game at Hamilton.
Girls Basketball
Culver dared anybody else to shoot it, and made it work.
The Cavaliers held Hope Fancil to just two points on 1-5 shooting and kept the remainder of the LCA roster under double digits in a 35-28 girls basketball win Friday night in Culver.
Fancil would add three rebounds, four blocks and two steals in the game, but after scoring over 18 points per game as a junior, was held to eight points under her season average coming into the night.

Culver (2-9) had Alex Temme lead the way with 14 points and Madison Shedrow follow up with 12 points.
