
Leonard Devon Sellers, formerly of Pierceton, passed away at 12:13 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 at his daughter’s residence in Oregon, Wisc. at the age of 92.
He was born on Oct. 21, 1925 in Kosciusko County to Merl Sellers and Ethel (Cook) Sellers. On June 19, 1951 he was married to Esther Adaline (Palmer) Sellers for 64 years before she passed away on Jan. 9, 2016.
Leonard was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County where he was a proud hard working farmer. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1953. He was a member of the Pierceton Senior Citizens Center, and a longtime member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church of Warsaw where he was very active in church activities. He enjoyed working with wood and engines. Over the years Leonard had made various woodworking projects for family, friends and the church. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all.
Leonard will be lovingly remembered by his son: Michael (wife Dianna) Sellers, Pierceton; two daughters: Jean Cox, Columbus, Ohio; and Patricia (husband Patrick) Hermsen, Oregon, Wisc. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Laurie (husband Johnny) Him-Velarde, Chicago, Ill.; Kelly (husband Joey) Nguyen, Columbus, Ohio; Michelle Holt, Madison, Wisc.; Eric Sellers, Larwill; Dana (husband Derrick) Day, North Manchester; Calvin (wife Alicia) Sellers, South Whitley; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson: Kyle Holt; three brothers: Virgil, Claude and Wayne Sellers; sister Leona Gillman; and his son-in-law Dave Cox.
Visitation will be held from noon-4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 3, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
His funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 4 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home of Warsaw. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery of Pierceton with full military rites by the American Legion Post #258 of Pierceton and active duty members of the Army Honor Guard.
