2035559Betty Jean Garvin, 76, of Westler Lake near Wolcottville, Ind., passed away at her home on Monday, March 25, 2013.

She was born on July 1, 1937, the daughter of Sam and Mary (Yoder) Petersheim in Yoder, Kansas. On July 21, 1955, she married Glen Slabach. She later married Jack Garvin on Dec. 17, 1983; he preceded her in death on June 1, 2004.

She is survived by three children: Dean Slabach, Syracuse, Ind.; Tammy (Tom) Janes,Ligonier, Ind.; Douglas (Dianne ) Slabach, Goshen, Ind.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four siblings: Edna (Paul) Wallace, Cletus (Muriel) Peterson, Arlene (Keith) Julien all of Goshen; and Earl (Lucy) Petersheim, Bristol, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Anna Marie Sylvester.

She was a life member of the Rome City American Legion Post 381 Ladies Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Kendallville, and the Messiah Lutheran Church in Wolcottville, IN. She enjoyed golfing & life on the Lake.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at Yeager Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in her honor at 11 a.m. Friday, March 29, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at West Goshen Cemetery in Goshen.

Pall bearers will be Doug Slabach, Clay Preston, Drew Preston, Stephanie Slabach, Eric Slabach and Brandon Slabach.
