NorthWood SportsNAPPANEE – Neely Trenshaw made one field goal Tuesday night.

The NorthWood guard sure picked a fine time for that single big bucket.

Junior Trenshaw drained a jumper with just 1.8 seconds left to lift the Panthers past Triton 30-28 in a non-conference girls basketball matchup in the Panther Pit.

Junior Kenzie Bergman hit four treys in scoring 12 points to pace the Panthers, who improve to 5-2 on the season.

NorthWood led 10-5 after the opening period and 16-14 at halftime. The hosts had a 25-24 advantage heading into the final frame, where they outscored the Trojans 5-4.

Sophomore Kate Rulli had seven points and four rebounds for NorthWood. Savannah Feenstra, the lone senior for the Panthers, added five points and three assists.

Trenshaw had three assists and three steals for the winners.

Hannah Wanemacher scored a game-high 13 points to lead the way for Triton, which suffered its third straight loss.

Whytnie Miller netted eight points and Nicole Sechrist added five for the Trojans, who are now 2-5.

NorthWood won the junior varsity contest 38-26.

NorthWood hosts Concord in its conference opener Nov. 30. Triton will host its own tournament on Saturday.
